prayer

I wish you could see them.
They are all around us.
All standing there, their mouths open as if trying to say something.  Some look like they are shouting.
Look at them.
Most are young, I’ve seen them often, they don’t seem to age.   Men in old uniforms, women in uniform too.  Civilians, some carrying babies.
Honestly, it’s not a pretty sight.
They are obviously from many races - friends, and enemies.   And there are new ones, mostly civilians.
They are dead, but they are not at rest.
Look at them.
I wish you could see them.
Have you ever heard a silent scream?    That’s what it is.   I can’t hear what they are saying but from the looks on their faces, from the look in their eyes, from the tears running down their cheeks, I know, I’ve heard it before.  WHY!
Can you hear them - WHY?
Whoever thought it would go this far.  WHY?
They are NOT looking to have anyone else join their ranks, and neither are we.
Let’s release them and let them rest in peace, and let us be about fixing the mess we are in and get on with our lives.
If that is a prayer, so be it, I pray that God is listening.
I wish you could hear them,
I wish you could see them.
